TREND STORY : ROMANCE

For our first real assignment, we got to look into the trend story, for my group that was romance. I think that in that moment, through everyone heads, has immediately passed all those typical ideas of romance : pink, lace, ruffles, dresses, pastel colors, love movies. But as we worked through we began to dig deeper and think more creatively. As a group we had to research and analyze our trend story and create three moodbroards for the shops, people and history. For the shop moodboard we had to analyse our trend through out different store or online websites. For the history, we had to research the background of out trend, who influenced it and how has romance trend evolved over time. At the end it was the people moodboard, which l think, was the most fun to create. We had to walk around the Nottingham streets or around the uni and photograph the people who were wearing something connected to our trend, as well as ask them some questions about it, to get the primary research.

We began by creating mind maps and doing individual research online, which would later contribute to our assignment as well as visiting a lot of stores and taking photos.

We started doing the street photography, which was a lot of fun. That made us step out of our comfort zone and ask people some questions. For example „How does this piece of clothing make you feel?“ Which some of them said that it makes them fell younger, elegant, pretty and fresh. Not just because the flowers but because of the colors too. Even though some of them are not used to wearing such bold clothing, they still grab it on everyday basis. Next question we asked them was : „Why did you chose to wear this item?“ Most people said because it is comfortable, some said it reminds them of spring and summer and some said that for them flowers are an elegant statement and they spice up their outfit every time. I will mention one more question which we asked people, and that was : „Why did you chose to buy this clothing item?“ They said that they like floral pieces and embroidery, but some of the said that they just wanted to try something new and step out of their comfort zone.
