The three-night extravaganza took place at The Metropolitan Opera House in New York which included a women's collection. The designers are known for hosting Alta Moda in classic Italian destinations, most recently in Milan, Sicily and Naples.

The weekend has started with a presentation at the New York Public Library for Dolce & Gabbana's Alta Gioielleria high jewelry line on Friday, followed by the men's couture Alta Sartoria show at the Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center on Saturday and finally on Sunday, the women's collection debut at The Metropolitan Opera House.

According to Gabbana, “It all started with an invitation from the Metropolitan Opera, one of our favorite theaters.” He continued: “We love everything about the city, the food, the people you meet on the streets, the skyscrapers, the restaurants, the subway, the nightlife, the lights that never go out. I could go on forever. . . .” Dolce finished the thought: “To us, New York is the city where dreams come true.”

The collection was created to celebrate America – so it did. Without disappointment. They were inspired from the city of New York and the United States, like the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, the iconic skyscrapers, yellow cabs, and all that and more which is shown by taking form of the garments. Plus, Gabbana confirmed that Alta Moda collections will similarly evoke New York.

“With its skyline and its energy, the city is definitely our inspiration.” And it won’t just be locals in the crowd. Dolce & Gabbana have guests jetting in from China, Russia, the Middle East, and the U.K. Other then garments, they were able to capture the romance, culture and lifestyle that is New York city by designing the beautiful flower staircase and including the diverse cast of models to walk down on it.
